Burning Bunkers and RipaGreen Themal Lances

From a throwaway remark at a Golf Club, to concept validation from a Course Manager. The Ripagreen, a safer 21st century replacement for the paraffin fuelled Sheen Flame Gun.

“Burning Bunkers” a throwaway remark from a Greenkeeper when looking at the Ripagreen Thermal Lance. We first used it on weeds round the clubhouse then the comment arose after seeing the results.

Burning is far too severe a word it should be wilt, the Ripagreen uses a heat envelope to wilt the leaves heating to about 80 centigrade, thus bursting the protein molecules immediately stopping photosynthesis and growing. Nature follows on, leaves dry and collapse. Then go back in a week or two to do the same again, new weaker shoots soon wilt and die, soon a weedfree bunker without resorting to pesticides, a pesticide free solution.

The big advantage is no spray drift or worrying about temperature and rain, instant on off control of the lance.

This “Burning Bunkers” idea was validated by Course Manager Paul Larsen in an article in the June GreenKeeping Magazine, where his experiences in Australia have been put to good use at The Royal St George Golf Club.

Here is a photo of a Sheen Flame gun being used on a bunker wall, now going forward to 2021, Kersten UK has the Safe Efficient Ripagreen Thermal Lance to achieve the same result. (Sorry about the quality) Call for a Demo.
